Phlo Connect enables healthcare providers to plug seamlessly into Phlo’s industry-leading pharmacy infrastructure platform.

This is only possible due to the engineering approach underpinning Phlo since day one. This approach centres on asking ourselves three questions:

Will this delight our users?

Phlo Connect is an API-driven pharmacy platform which means we consider software engineers one of our primary groups of users. As software engineers in the healthcare sector, we have all experienced a terrible Developer Experience (DX). APIs that are a mess, documentation that doesn’t make sense and legacy technology that takes months to integrate.  All of that before you even begin to deal with the archaic processes and support required to gain access to the platform. With Phlo Connect - we’re changing things.

Our Documentation

Phlo Connect’s API documentation is public and built using the latest OpenAPI specification. The OpenAPI specification is a structured, machine-readable approach to describing an API. This approach has fostered a growing ecosystem of automated tools which streamline integration efforts with a platform such as Phlo Connect.

Postman is one of the most well-known of these tools. It allows you to import an Open API specification - such as Phlo Connect’s - and be a button click away from sending test API calls and generating code that can be copied into any technology stack. On receiving credentials for the Phlo Connect API, it is possible to be up and running in a matter of minutes.

Our Technology

Compatibility is never an issue. Phlo Connect provides a REST API - delivering JSON over HTTPS - and is as easy to use as any API platform. As long as your product can make an HTTPS call, it can integrate with Phlo Connect.

We build our APIs using modern open-source technology used by the world’s largest organisations. This allows us to keep innovating while delivering robust and secure solutions to our partners.

Our onboarding process

Phlo Connect is an off the shelf solution ready to go. We can flick a switch and activate your account in less than twenty-four hours. The platform is highly configurable so that we can tune it to a partner’s exact needs. Our engineering team are on hand every step of the way to answer your questions and guide you through the integration process. We’re firm believers in providing technology with a human touch.

Will this perform at scale?

Phlo Connect is built with all healthcare providers in mind, from a startup servicing their first patient to the most prominent providers servicing thousands of people a day. The reliability of our platform is key to providing patients with an outstanding pharmacy experience.

Phlo Connect is built on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), which allows us to use the battle-tested infrastructure provided by Google. Our APIs are deployed to Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). GKE enable us to scale the capacity of our APIs with a simple set of rules ensuring that we’re ready out of the box to meet the demand of our growing partner base and their increasing patient numbers. Likewise, we use Google’s cloud offering for our data stores and surrounding infrastructure, all fully managed by Google.

Will this move forward the industry?

Phlo Connect is focused on providing the next generation of pharmacy e-prescribing services. We’re currently building a digital prescription signing solution, as well as an extensive set of APIs to allow deeper integration of Phlo Connect’s services - the future is real-time stock indicators, real-time pricing information, and minute by minute updates on a patient’s prescription. The future is already here, and we can’t wait to offer the next generation of pharmacy infrastructure services to the healthcare sector.
